A brief description of the event(s):
For two years in a row, Transylvania has hosted an Anti-Apathy film series geared towards students. These films encourage outreach in action in the fields of sustainability. Films screened the first year of the series included 'Climate of Change,' 'Waiting for Superman,' and 'The Yes Men Fix the World' among others. the Anti-Apathy series for 2012-2013 focused on food. Films included 'Got the Facts on Milk,' 'King Corn,' 'Food Fight,' and more. Additionally, Sustainability is often a focus of speakers in both the Kenan Lecture Series (given biannually, including a lecture by Ted Nordhaus on environmental policy analysis) and the Creative Intelligence Lecture Series (examples include a talk by Arwen Donahue and David Wagoner entitled 'Three Springs Farm: A Dozen Years of CSA,' a presentation by Rebecca Self about FoodChain, and a lecture by Holly Weidemann on sustainable development.)
