We are in infancy stages of implementing a computer database file which will track all products purchased by TU campus personnel. One component of the program is the ability of faculty to share or allocate excess chemicals into a “store” which other faculty members could access. This would reduce duplicate purchases and reduce the amount of hazardous waste which would need to be disposed. We are in the configuration stages of implementation. We anticipate it will take about a year to phase in all buildings and departments. We will be starting with the Chemistry Department which we hope to be “live” by April/May 2013. Subsequent academic and administrative departments will follow.
