A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
In 2021, students and employees were invited to participate in a sustainability survey, which included commuter modes of transportation. In addition to providing a more comprehensive understanding of TMU's transportation patterns, preferences and carbon emissions, the information is used for campus planning and design efforts related to supporting the goals of TMU's Sustainability Action Plan (e.g. increased pedestrianization). It was a representative sample because all TMU students and employees had equal chances of participating in the survey.
