Narrative and/or website URL providing an overview of the unions or collective bargaining units active at the institution:
The unions UNM participates in collective bargaining with that pertain to regular/permanent employees are:
• Communications Workers of America (staff)
• Police Officers Associations (police)
• United Staff – UNM (staff)
• United Academics, Unit 1 – UNM (faculty and lecturers)

The major goal of the negotiations with the unions is the development and regular update of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The CBA addresses matters such as: union rights, management rights, compensation and benefits, disciplinary processes, and grievance procedures.

UNM is engaged in collective bargaining with two unions that represent temporary employees: In 2019, portions of the UNM faculty voted to be represented for matters involving the terms and conditions of employment by a new faculty union, United Academics of UNM (UA-UNM). UA-UNM Unit 2 represents temporary faculty (e.g., adjunct faculty).

In addition, the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America represents teaching assistants, graduate assistants, and project assistants: https://provost.unm.edu/academic-unionization/graduate-assistant-union/docs/cba-toc-agreement.pdf
