Sustainable Design and Construction Policy

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

On Feburary 1st 2021, Ohio State adopted the Sustainable Design and Construction Policy. Previously the sustainable construction policy at Ohio State was targeted towards acheiving LEED Silver for all projects over 4 million dollars, however this new set of standards applies to every single Ohio State project. In the two year process to design these standards input was recieved from consultants, Ohio State staff and faculty, and industry experts.

The SDCP addresses commissioning and sustainability review, energy efficiency, water use efficiency, ecosystem services, materials and resources, user experience, and life cycle cost analysis. These standards are tailored more specifcally towards Ohio States resource stewardship goals and include intensive post-occupancy metric tracking.
