The President and Provost's Council on Sustainability (PPCS) strategically guides and advises sustainable practices, programs and projects throughout the university. The Council meets periodically to contribute to campus planning and program development working with a variety of university committees, offices and departments. The members of PPCS have representation in academic leadership, research, operations, medical center, athletics, student life, and student government combined with a shared mission to promote sustainability across campus and in the community.

Office of Energy and Environment (OEE)
OEE helps Ohio State with advancing education, research and energy innovation with an emphasis on how those needs can be met sustainably. OEE facilitates sustainable activity within faculty, staff, students and research to develop alternative energy sources and develop sustainable options

Energy Services and Sustainability (ESS)
As the focal point for Ohio State's sustainability efforts, ESS oversees sustainability in energy conservation, energy management, green building and construction, materials management, and many other initiatives. The office coordinates with the President and Provost's Council on Sustainability supporting initiatives of sustainability planning, education and programming in accordance with the university's core goals: Teaching and Learning, Research and Innovation, Outreach and Engagement, and Resource Stewardship.

Office of Student Life, Energy Management and Sustainability
The Office of Student Life Energy Management and Sustainability focuses on educating students and staff on sustainable choices not only within the university, but within the community as well. They provide recommendations for building systems, waste removal, resource conservation and other functions on campus to support energy conservation and sustainability while measuring efforts qualitatively and quantitatively.

Office of Business Advancement
Three of the critical business units of the university combined financial resources to fund the first, for each of their departments, full time sustainability staff role working to align each of the programs with the Ohio State Sustainability Goals. A Sustainability Coordinator and several student staff work with the Department of Athletics and office of Business Advancement who both report to the Wolf Foundation Endowed Athletic Director, along with the office of Business and Finance which reports to the Chief Financial Officer. Functionally the program reports to the Executive Director of Business Advancement where it leads department specific initiatives and provides leadership guidance to align with the Ohio State Sustainability Goals

The President and Provost's Council on Sustainability (PPCS) provides valuable input on several sustainability projects. In 2017, a private-public partnership to manage the university's energy systems was created, which includes implementing energy conservation measures in campus buildings.
