"---" indicates that no data was submitted for this field

Has the institution conducted a GHG emissions inventory that includes all Scope 1 and 2 emissions? :
Yes

Does the institution’s GHG emissions inventory include all, some or none of its Scope 3 GHG emissions from the following categories?:
All, Some, or None
Business travel All
Commuting All
Purchased goods and services None
Capital goods None
Waste generated in operations All
Fuel- and energy-related activities not included in Scope 1 or Scope 2 All
Other categories Some

A copy of the most recent GHG emissions inventory:
A brief description of the methodology and/or tool used to complete the GHG emissions inventory, including how the institution accounted for each category of Scope 3 emissions reported above:

The data collection for the Ohio State's Carbon Footprint is carried out by employees in the Energy Services and Sustainability Office (ESS). ESS employees contact the various departments within the university that maintain records of data relevant to the Carbon Footprint Inventory. The Campus Carbon Calculator (transitioning to Sustainability Indicator Management & Analysis Platform (SIMAP)) is used to format the data and calculate the equivalent CO2 emissions from each of the inventoried sources. The Campus Carbon Calculator is updated each year with new emission coefficients and trending equations. The version used for the FY2017 Ohio State Carbon Footprint Inventory was CACP v2017.

Has the GHG emissions inventory been validated internally by personnel who are independent of the GHG accounting and reporting process and/or verified by an independent, external third party?:
Yes

A brief description of the internal and/or external verification process:

Ohio State’s Office Administration and Planning Metrics group completes the internal independently-validated process for the GHG inventory prior to submission, and in FY17, the GHG inventory was also independently-validated internally by Michael Charles (NSF Graduate Research Fellow, Office of Academic Affairs). This data is then converted into a weather adjusted Energy Utilization Index (EUI), which is used to visualize year-over-year trends in utility use.

In addition to utilizing the Sustainability Indicator & Management Analysis Platform (SIMAP) for internal verification and reporting, The Ohio State University also reports this data annually to Second Nature, to the ACUPCC, and other 3rd-Party organizations.

Documentation to support the internal and/or external verification process:
Does the institution wish to pursue Part 2 and Part 3 of this credit? (reductions in Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions):
Yes
