The Office of International Affairs offers many study abroad programs with courses that touch on sustainability issues; the following programs specifically focus on sustainability and are highlighted below:

Sustaining Human Societies and the Natural Environment (Australia)
- This 3.5-week experiential program uses the theme of sustainable development to explore the relationship between people and their natural environment. This study abroad experience takes place in the state of Queensland, Australia and includes an introduction to the Great Barrier Reef on Magnetic Island, ethnographic study of agriculture lifestyles in Malanda, mining and farming in Tyrconnell, a service project and habitat exploration in Yungaburra, snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef from Port Douglas, and rainforest exploration in Cape Tribulation.

Iceland Environment and Natural Resources
- The numerous environmental issues found throughout the island provide a wonderful outdoor classroom for students to study and observe issues such as land degradation (deforestation, soil erosion, and desertification) and the threats of poor resource protection, as well as the possibilities of environmental restoration and the benefits of resource conservation. In addition to learning about environmental issues, students will learn about industries such as fishing and whaling, and Icelandic tourism and park management will be studied on field trips to national parks with unusual features such as geysers, glaciers and hot springs.

Czech Republic: Sustainability and Agricultural Policy in the EU
- The purpose of this 4 week trip is to study development and economic change from the days of King Charles to the birth of Czechoslovakia under communism, through the peaceful "Velvet Revolution" and into their ascent into the European Union, focusing on agriculture and natural resources.

Environmental Sustainability in Costa Rica
- In this 4 week program, students tackle the major issues of management and conservation of natural resources in one of the countries with the highest biodiversity on the planet. During this program, students will be engaged in hands-on environmental problem solving, learning how to balance economic development and conservation, at the same time experiencing one of the richest cultural heritages of Central America.

European Cities and Sustainable Urban Planning Practices (4 weeks)
- Students in this program will explore how diverse approaches to planning and urban design found in Europe, address the general principles of sustainability, and examine in the field how some of these principles have been put into practice.

FCOB Sustainable Business Global Lab (4 weeks)
- Here, students explore the latest trends in sustainability. Coursework and travel to The Netherlands and Sweden during May 2018 asks you to reexamine how individuals and institutions in other political, economic and social settings view the challenges and opportunities associated with sustainability initiatives in business. Consistently ranked at the top of global sustainability indices, Sweden and The Netherlands provide the perfect environment for learning and exploration.

India: Sustainable Food Systems in an Emerging Economy (4 weeks)
- The goal of this India education abroad program is to provide students an intensive and immersive lecture and field-based experience that will educate them about sustainable agriculture in an emerging economy like India.

New Zealand: Sustainable Tourism & Human Impacts on the Environment
- This 4-week study abroad program will examine the natural (and related social) history and resource conservation of New Zealand's South Island. The goal of this course is using the New Zealand case to integrate the different perspectives of diverse natural, biological, and social science disciplines to improve understanding of relationships between human societies and the natural environment.

Sustainability and Social Justice in Ecuador (4 weeks)
- This program explores the intersections of themes such as sustainability, food security, indigenous rights, local crafts, and women’s rights as they relate to social justice in a global context.

School for Field Studies (Australia, Bhutan, Costa Rica, Kenya, New Zealand, Panama)
- SFS programs teach resource management, ecological and economic concepts using an interdisciplinary, hands-on approach. Critical issues addressed by SFS teams include preserving entire ecosystems or individual species, balancing economic development and conservation and finding ways to manage and maintain wildlife, marine and agricultural resources.
