A brief description of the institution’s sustainability partnerships with the local community:

The Ohio State University has partnered with its global community in countless and different ways. One example of Ohio State’s involvement with the community related to sustainability is its Earth Day efforts. The university is a primary sponsor of the non-profit Green Columbus’ Earth Day celebration every year. Ohio State works with the community organization to ensure a seamless integration of activities and opportunities for the citizens of Columbus and the students, faculty, and staff of Ohio State.
Ohio State provides support to student groups in all areas to engage in the community from community litter clean ups, international humanitarian efforts, and local community development projects.
Ohio State also supports, organizes, or manages community groups and organizations such as the University Area Commission, City of Columbus, and other government agencies.
Mutually beneficial partnerships and collaborations are central to both the definition of outreach and engagement and how the Office of Outreach and Engagement does its work. This office exists to work in collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and units to enrich Ohio State’s partnerships with the community and to embed outreach and engagement into colleges and departments.
