A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support underrepresented groups within the student body:

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion provides academic support programs targeting underrepresented minorities, first-generation and low-income college students, students with disabilities, single-parent students, LGBTQ students, and students from Appalachian counties in the State of Ohio. Our programs serve pre-collegiate student pipelines, undergraduates, graduate and professional students, and faculty.

In addition, there are many programs to support underrepresented groups located in the colleges and in other non-academic units such as the Office of Student Life and the Women’s Place.


A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support underrepresented groups within the faculty:

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion provides grants to support faculty research or symposia and conferences on topics related to diversity. The Faculty Fellows program supports faculty who wish to spend time working closely with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion on a diversity-related project. The Women’s Place provides professional development and research grants to women faculty. Project CEOS is an NSF-funded project to increase the representation and advancement of women in academic STEM careers. The academic colleges also have programs for their faculty. For example, the College of Arts and Science Diversity Enhancement Program Research Working Group is a supportive environment for junior faculty.
