A brief description of the institution's Tree Campus USA program:
Tree Campus USA is a certification coordinated by the National Arbor Day Foundation to promote healthy trees and student involvement. A key component of this program is an integrated and sustained effort to involve students and prospective students, faculty, staff, alumni, Ohio businesses, and the surrounding community in service- learning projects that connect the Ohio State Framework Plan to the campus as an outdoor classroom.
Colleges and universities across the United States can be recognized as a Tree Campus USA college by meeting five standards developed to promote healthy trees and student involvement:
1. Campus Tree Advisory Committee that includes student, faculty, facility management and community members.
2. Campus Tree Care Plan
3. Campus Tree Program with Dedicated Annual Expenditures
4. Arbor Day Observance
5. Service Learning Project ie. Tree Inventory, Volunteer plantings or tree maintenance, and establishment of campus arboreta.
