A brief description of the themed housing, including name(s) and descriptions of theme(s):
Green Engineering Scholars: Scholars Programs have clustered courses, themed activities and a programmatic focus on specific issues, one of which is our Green Engineering Scholars Program.
Environment and Natural Resources Scholars: ENR is another Scholars Program Ohio State offers to students.
Blackburn and Norton Smart Houses: Residence Halls that have smart metering and participate in an energy saving competition annually.
Scholars Programs are available for students to apply to as incoming first years. Students live in a living-learning community, attend cluster courses, volunteer, and participated in themed activities over the course of their first year and beyond. Our Green Engineering and Environment and Natural Resources Scholars program both learn about environmental and sustainability issues.
Blackburn and Norton House are residence halls which are equipped with smart metering. The two participate in a Scarlet, Gray and Green Challenge every year to see which hall can use less energy.
