A brief description of the institution’s programs that help increase the diversity of higher education faculty :

The Newark campus has developed a Faculty Searches Guide. All campus faculty vacancies are posted with Insight into Diversity. Also, the campus has a faculty mentoring program and the campus has a Faculty Wellbeing Committee that is a subcommittee of the Faculty Assembly. The campus also hosts a Women’s Caucus whereby women faculty and staff receive information and professional development opportunities targeted to professional women on campus.

Hiring Guide – searches for all college positions, including regular faculty positions, must be conducted in accordance with the guidelines established in the hiring guide that includes statements about the College’s commitment to diversity. The college’s strives to have diversity on search committees and vigorously pursues the development of diverse applicant pools.

The campus also hosts a Women’s Caucus whereby women faculty and staff receive information and professional development opportunities targeted to professional women on campus.

The Ohio State University provides the following support for its regional campuses. The Center established the Doctoral Fellows program in 2009 for graduate students who were interested in the work of the Center and are interested in academic careers as professors or postdoctoral researchers. This program is designated for Ohio State doctoral students who show much promise of becoming productive scholars on topics related to African American males. More specifically, it includes ongoing professional development and mentorship that will prepare students for the academic rigors of the academy. Individuals selected for the program contribute to current and new research initiatives and writing projects designed by the Bell Resource Center.
