A brief description of the IPM plan(s) :
The Newark Campus has a commercial company spray for broadleaf weeds in the spring and fall. They also spray some of our trees for insect problems since we do not have the equipment or manpower to do it.
A brief description of the IPM plan(s): We do not like to use chemicals if they do not have to be used. As the Grounds Supt, I am searching out and am implementing a system in which we try to use a more organic approach such as insecticidal soaps and biodegradable oils when needed. The cost and lack of grounds personnel determines how much can be done since our budget is limited. It is not cost affective for us to use beneficial insects to control the bad insects on trees or shrubs at this time.
