A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome :
The Ohio State University at Newark and Central Ohio Technical College provide a unique example of how two higher education institutions, with distinct missions, governing bodies, curriculum and faculty can develop a structure in which both organizations benefit from shared facilities, grounds, administrators and other resources.
Located in Newark, Ohio, the Newark campus has been home to this unique partnership since 1971. Within the University system of Ohio, the Ohio State Newark and COTC cost-shared structure is well known for providing a collaborative foundation which promotes increased efficiencies. The institutions share the department of human resources, student life, facilities and grounds, marketing and public relations, development, business and finance, information and technology services and athletics.
The innovative practices identified in this letter of affirmation are the Newark Campus Framework Plan, and, the Next Generation Challenge.
