A brief description of the native plant program, policy, or practice:

The campus uses native planting materials first and only uses non-native plants where there are no options. More than 90% of the planting material on the Marion campus is native. In addition, the new University Drive extension road plan calls for the use of transplanted prairie grasses and native oak trees to be installed on mounds along the drive that runs north to south through the campus. Construction will begin in 2014. Also, prairie plants are transplanted from the Marion campus Prairie Nature Center (11 acres) to campus landscape beds for naturalizing.
