A brief description of the technology used:
Any vending machines replaced on the Marion campus since 2011 are required to have a “vending misers” using a Passive Infrared Sensor (PIR) to power down the vending machine when the surrounding area is vacant over 15 minutes. This was part of the energy assessment (ASHRAE level 1 & 2) conducted by Heapy Engineering in 2010.
