A brief description of the institution’s programs that help increase the diversity of higher education faculty :
In an effort to build a more diverse faculty, The Ohio State University at Lima has a longstanding policy in furtherance of conducting successful targeted diversity hires. This programmatic initiative was initiated at the senior leadership level and continues to be implemented with the full support and cooperation of the Academic Planning Committee, a standing faculty committee, which reviews and makes recommendations with regard to all tenure-line faculty hires on the Lima Campus.
In addition, The Ohio State University provides the following support for its regional campuses. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Bell National Resource Center, established the Doctoral Bells Fellows program in 2009 for graduate students who were interested in the work of the Center and are interested in academic careers as professors or postdoctoral researchers. This program is designated for Ohio State doctoral students who show much promise of becoming productive scholars on topics related to African American males. More specifically, it includes ongoing professional development and mentorship that will prepare students for the academic rigors of the academy. Individuals selected for the program contribute to current and new research initiatives and writing projects designed by the Bell Resource Center.
