The Tishman Environment and Design Center works as a sustainability and environmental justice hub for the institution. We collaborate across departments, schools and programs to foster environmental and climate justice work and act as a convener for environmental programs and policies.

NYC Department of Environmental Protection Water Challenge Winner

A brief description of the second program/initiative/accomplishment:
Working with the NYC Department of Environmental Protection and other schools in the city, The New School was part of a program to reduce water consumption by at least 5% based on a 2018 baseline. The New School was able to achieve the 5% savings.

Established and office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

A brief description of the third program/initiative/accomplishment:
We recently established an office of Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice in order to create a more welcoming campus environment. They will engage in policy creation to address issues of race, sexism and other relevant issues within the institution.
