A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :
Sustainability is included in the training for student Orientation Leaders so that they can address the topic during New Student Orientation. During Orientation, all new and incoming students are invited to attend the “Good As New Free Sale” where gently used school supplies and home goods are available for free and additional information about campus sustainability is available, including “Living Sustainably at The New School” pamphlets and computer stations to take the online sustainability pledge. The Tishman Environment and Design Center also staffs a table at the Orientation Block party with information and resources about campus sustainability including “Living Sustainably” pamphlets, NYC bike maps, sustainable seafood guides, and other resources. Orientation is required for first-year and transfer students, but is also made available to re-entry, graduate, post-baccalaureate, and all other students as well if they so choose.
