A brief description of the assessment(s):

A report named “Desegregating Diversity: From Myth to Mandate” was commissioned by the Office of the Provost. The focus was on issues of support and access for students of color and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender students. The report is very comprehensive and goes well beyond the primary focus. The report was created through various focus groups, a written survey, and task groups that were established to research the state of diversity at The New School.

A brief description of how the results of the assessment(s) are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives:

As a result of the survey, a number of initiatives have launched. One of which was the creation of the Safe Zone program. Further, there has been more attention paid to diversity in on campus programs, services and hiring practices.
