A brief description of the institution's stormwater management initiatives:
The new University Center, The New School's current construction project, is designed to meet LEEDv3 for New Construction's SS CREDIT 6.1: STORMWATER DESIGN - QUANTITY CONTROL, reducing site runoff by 37.72% (based on Two-Year, 24-Hour Design Storm). And it is also designed to meet SS CREDIT 6.2: STORMWATER DESIGN - QUALITY CONTROL with a weighted average TSS (or total suspended solids) removal efficiency of 91.2% (calculations based on treating stormwater runoff from 90% of the average annual rainfall). Meeting at least the minimum requirements that LEED requires for stormwater is policy for all new development projects moving forward.
