A brief description of the snow and ice removal program, policy, or practice:
The New School uses Excel ice melt pellets (Scotwood Industries) on sidewalks made from calcium chloride, effective down to -25 degrees Fahrenheit. Its effect on vegetation, corrosive characteristics and concrete performance compares favorably to competing ice-melt materials, including magnesium, potassium chloride and sodium chlorides.
