In 2023, the College of Wooster launched ScotShare, a new electric carshare program that reflects the College’s commitment to sustainability. ScotShare is open to students, faculty, and staff, who can rent and use one of two available Chevy Bolt cars at a rate of $9 per hour, including electricity, insurance, and up to 25 miles of driving per hour. The ScotShare vehicles are available for both personal and business use. Electric vehicles like these, outfitted with Wooster pride, reduce emissions by 65 percent and are three to four times more affordable to use than gasoline-powered vehicles. They also reduce noise and have lower maintenance and upkeep costs with the money saved by not needing gasoline.

Reuzzi is our reusable to-go container and mug program. Students wanting to-go containers for the dining hall or choosing to use reusable mugs in the cafes download the Reuzzi app and scan the QR code on the container/mug to check out the item. The Reuzzi program reminds them to return the container/mug at regular invervals. So far we have more than 50% of students participating in the program, with a 99% return rate.

Thanks to a generous donation from the Wallace Genetic Foundation, The College of Wooster has been able to create a new fund focused on exploring the intersection between religion and the environment. This funding has supported the creation of a local Faith and Sustainability Network, student internships, research funding, a regional faith and environment Fall Break trip, and a 3-week study abroad program in 2026 to learn how churches in the South Pacific are responding to climate justice concerns.
