2.1 Percentage of existing buildings managed for sustainability performance
Floor area of existing buildings managed under a green cleaning program:
Online location of the institution’s green cleaning policy:
Copy of the institution’s green cleaning policy:
Description of the institution’s certified green cleaning service:
City College follows NYS guidelines for green cleaning described in: https://greencleaning.ny.gov/Products.asp
Floor area of existing buildings individually assessed for energy performance:
Narrative outlining how building-level energy performance is assessed and how the results are used to improve performance:
CCNY follows guidance established by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), as well as practices and policies promoted by The City University of New York for the operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment that services campus buildings. Examples include but are not limited to:
• Air handling units that service campus buildings are fitted with minimum Merv 13 filters in an effort to trap and remove as many contaminates as possible before supply air is returned to building spaces;
• Some air handling units are being fitted with ultra violet disinfection lights to further mitigate airborne contaminates before air is returned to the building space;
• Building maintenance contracts are maintained to service building fire alarm system to insure that fire and smoke dampers function properly, thereby maximizing air flow circulation throughout buildings;
• Chilled water cooling system is chemically treated to mitigate any biological compromise to indoor air quality;
• All heating and cooling air handling units are centrally controlled by a building management system, thereby enhancing not only the energy efficiency, but also indoor air quality to building spaces;
• Approximately fifty percent of all occupied building spaces are centrally monitored and controlled through the building management system;
• The CCNY Department of Environment Health and Occupational Safety surveys critical equipment throughout the year, such as strobic fans that exhaust building air from critical building spaces, to insure that the they function as intended;
Floor area of existing buildings individually assessed for indoor environmental quality (IEQ) performance:
Narrative outlining how building-level IEQ is assessed and how the results are used to improve performance:
