Casey Trees' mission is to restore, enhance, and protect DC's tree canopy. Catholic University has partnered with Casey Trees since 2009 in several capacities including providing a staging area for trees transported from their tree farm in Virginia to DC, planting trees on campus, and conducting education and outreach efforts on campus and in the community.

THe DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU) helps District residents, businesses, and institutions save energy and money through energy efficiency and renewable energy programs. The DCSEU runs a workforce development program that can connect District residents who are new to the workforce, between jobs, or looking for a career change with businesses in the green economy.
From January 2020 to July 2020, the University agreed to participate in the workforce development program. The University hosted an extern, provide IT equipment, and provided valuable learning opportunities for a young professional looking for experience in energy efficiency.

In November 2021, the District of Columbia's Department of Energy and the Environment invited the University to participate in a 6-month engagement to increase participation in alternative compliance programs for stormwater management. The District desires to improve the market uptake of alternative strategies for compliance with the District's green stormwater infrastructure requirements. With the University's experience with designing and maintaining such structures, the University was invited to join the focus group to provide input into the direction of the program. The group of stakeholders includes owners, designers, consultants, and nonprofits with experience or interest in stormwater management. The working group convenes approximately once a month.
