A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
The American College of Greece Infectious Disease Emergency Plan (IDEP) has been developed to provide guidance to the administrative framework in following proactive guidelines that can minimize the impact of a viral outbreak as well as that of other major infectious diseases on the community of the College, its academic and business operations. The IDEP provides the basic structure and guidance to plan and coordinate, monitor and assess, prevent and control the College health systems response, communication, and public education in the event of an infectious disease outbreak.
The Plan outlines the main response mechanisms based on a five stage model of the extent of an infectious disease outbreak and the roles and responsibilities of key university services and members in order to reduce the severity of the illness and the disruption to the social and economic infrastructure of the ACG.
Following is a list of factors (in alphabetical order) considered by the College's response to the disease outbreak: animal life, College reputation, financial, human life, legal compliance, morale, operating efficiency, research, social responsibility, teaching. These factors establish the priorities and reveal the primary and secondary overall goals of the IDEP Plan.
This plan is the first attempt nationwide to ensure continuance and sustainability in case of substantial epidemic events. It transcends PA2 categories into an all inclusive protocol that assembles permanent and ad-hoc committees, academic divisions and offices. It is not a simple health and wellbeing plan , financial sustainability or any of the categories explicitly mentioned under PA2.
