A brief description of the institution’s community garden:
"Heart of Lubbock Community Garden After starting the Heart of Lubbock Community Garden in 2013, Beth Roesler donated the garden to Texas Tech University's department of Plant and Soil Sciences. The Heart of Lubbock Community Garden is located on the corner of Avenue X and 21st Street. The garden is open to everyone and is always looking for volunteers. Volunteers can learn about nutrition, gardening, and sustainability by participating in events and helping in the garden. Visitors and volunteers can also enjoy the pollinator garden or learn more about composting! Our Mission: -To unite people of all demographics by having a common interest -For everyday people to gain gardening skills -Unify the community which may help reduce crime -To have a green space and land for public use -Grow all edible plants utilizing sustainable methods -Encourage healthier eating, especially among youth"
