Bobcats Give Back

A brief description of the campaign:

Bobcats Give Back is a donation program focused on alleviating trash issues during move out. Clothing, non-perishable food, small appliances, pet supplies, hygiene goods, and furniture can be donated. The program was ran at select locations on campus as well as in off-campus student housing.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:

6006 lbs of donations were collected in 2019 (launch year), 2,929 lbs were collected in summer 2021, and 9717 pounds were collected in May 2022.

Open Closet Gender Free Thrift Market

A brief description of the campaign (2nd campaign):

Donation bins accepting clothes and accessories were placed in office spaces around Texas State University. Employees and students donated hundreds of articles of clothing. The clothing was displayed in a gender-neutral fashion in the Student Center Ballroom on April 18, 2022. The Texas State community was then invited to take 5 articles of clothing for free and listen to a gender inclusivity panel hosted by Transend, a transgender student organization.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):

This event hit all three pillars of sustainability by diverting unwanted clothes from the landfill, giving those clothes to people who may not be able to afford them, all while promoting social and gender inclusivity. Over 338 individuals for the Texas State community attended this event.
