O+M Certified Space

Building space must be certified under a rating system focusing on the operations and maintenance of existing buildings (e.g. LEED O+M) to count as certified space for this credit. Sustainability in new construction and major renovation projects (e.g. LEED BD+C certification) is covered in the Building Design and Construction credit.

Floor area of building space that is certified at each level under a green building rating system for the operations and maintenance of existing buildings used by an Established Green Building Council:
Certified Floor Area
LEED O+M Platinum or the highest achievable level under another GBC rating system 0 Square feet
LEED O+M Gold or the 2nd highest level under another 4- or 5-tier GBC rating system 0 Square feet
Certified at mid-level under a 3- or 5-tier GBC rating system (e.g. BREEAM-In Use, CASBEE for Existing Buildings, DGNB, Green Star Performance) 0 Square feet
LEED O+M Silver or at a step above minimum level under another 4 -or 5–tier GBC rating system 0 Square feet
LEED O+M Certified or certified at minimum level under another GBC rating system 0 Square feet

Floor area of building space that is certified under a non-GBC rating system for the operations and maintenance of existing buildings, e.g. BOMA BESt, Green Globes CIEB:
0 Square feet

Percentage of building space certified under a green building rating system for the operations and maintenance of existing buildings:
0

If reporting certified space, provide:

A brief description of the green building rating system(s) used and/or a list or sample of certified buildings and ratings:
The new Lab Science building is currently under construction and will be silver LEED Certified. It will be 160,000 square feet. This project is set to be completed in fall 2020. https://www.tntech.edu/cas/chemistry/new-building.php

If reporting uncertified space, provide the following:

Uncertified Space

Indoor Air Quality Management

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with a published indoor air quality (IAQ) management policy or protocol? (0-100):
0

A copy of the IAQ management policy or protocol:

Green Cleaning

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with a published green cleaning policy, program or contract ? (0-100):
100

A copy or the green cleaning policy:
A brief description of how green cleaning is incorporated into cleaning contracts:
TN Tech contracts their custodial services through Service Solutions (SSC). They are committed to the use of environmentally responsible chemicals, equipment and processes. Attached are SSC's "Green Cleaning Methods" & their sustainability policy (below). They also provide us with the required MSDS on all the products that they use (not attached). Additionally, recycled rags that are washed and packed in the USA are purchased to be used for cleaning.

Energy Management and Benchmarking

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with an energy management or benchmarking program? (0-100):
85

A brief description of the energy management or benchmarking program:
A central energy management system controls our central steam plant, central chilled water plant and some portion of HVAC, chilled water or steam systems in approximately 85% of the central campus square footage. This control includes (to a varying degree in different buildings, depending on age): room temperature high/low setpoints, return air temperatures, outside air temperature, humidity, differential pressure, supply & return water temperatures, steam line pressure, etc. Reporting is done monthly & annually. Comparisons are made of same time in years past. The University uses this information for budgeting, to set future energy saving goals and to evaluate energy saving progress, both on a project level and campus wide. Dashboards are available for students, faculty, staff to access to observe and track utility usage.

Water Management and Benchmarking

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with a water management or benchmarking program? (0-100):

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
TN Tech is a State university. All buildings fall under the oversight of the Tennessee State Building Commission. Because of this, all square footage falls under federal OSHA standards and ASHRAE standards 62.1 & 62.2. Since 2012, all renovated space and new construction is designed and constructed according to the conditions of the Tennessee High Performance Building Requirements. IAQ: TN Tech does not regularly audit or monitor any areas for indoor air quality. Two of the main campus auditoriums monitor CO2 levels to control the ventilation air quantities but the square footage is minimal compared to the entire campus.
