Data source(s) and notes about the submission:

We are utilizing two different undergraduate student survey instruments to determine totals for both Part 1 and Part 2. The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) and the Temple University Student Questionnaire (TUSQ) are administered to undergraduate students ONLY. The total undergraduate headcount, according to the 2022-2023 At a Glance factbook is 24,349. <https://ira.temple.edu/sites/ira/files/Temple_At_A_Glance_2022-2023_0.pdf>

From the NSSE, "Q16. About how many hours do you spend in a typical 7-day week doing the following? Doing community service or volunteer work (e)"

From the TUSQ, "During the school year, how many hours per week do you spend on the following? Doing community service (Item #98)"

The number of students engaged in community service was determined by the percentage of respondents who indicated they spend some time (> 1 hour) per week doing community service. The total number of student community service hours contributed annually was determined by multiplying the number of students engaged by the weekly average amount of hours per week per student by 30 weeks, the length of a two-term academic year.

The additional documentation for student community service hours reflects total contribution from all sororities and fraternities and the Service Immersion Program (inventories managed by the Division of Student Affairs); the Community Scholars Program in the College of Liberal Arts <https://liberalarts.temple.edu/about/community-engagement/community-scholars-program>; and volunteer events hosted by the Office of Sustainability.

Staff programs, participants and hours are all accounted for in the additional documentation.
