Tec de Monterrey has a robust Volunteer program. We provide the organizational structure to bridge the need for volunteers from initiatives working to answer to social and environmental challenges and people from our institution that want to help with that task.

The social responsibility department is part of the students experience during their career, it is a must to complete a social responsability program to graduate.

5.2 Employee community service program

Narrative and/or website URL providing an overview of the institution’s programs to support employee community service:

Tec de Monterrey has a robust Volunteer program. We provide the organizational structure to bridge the need for volunteers from initiatives working to answer to social and environmental challenges and people from our institution that want to help with that task.  In 2023, our catalog consisted of more than 40 volunteer opportunities with partners from organizations (governmental and non-governmental) that work in alignment with the SDGs, mainly relating to: quality education, zero hunger, reduced inequalities, health and wellbeing and environmental protection and climate action.

5.3 Support for public policies to advance sustainability

Have one or more individuals affiliated with the institution helped develop public policies that address sustainability challenges within the previous three years?:

Narrative outlining how individuals affiliated with the institution have helped develop local or regional public policies that address sustainability challenges:

Tec de Monterrey published a book that assembles the work of 16 experts on the SDGs and current Federal Legislation on the matter. Information on SDG 1 starts on page 29 - 71.

 
 
National Council on the Agenda 2030 (Consejo Nacional Agenda 2030): Since 2019, Tec de Monterrey and UNAM represent the Academic Sector in the meetings of the National Council. AIs of july 2024, Tec de Monterrey renewed its participation at the Council's working Committee on Follw-up and Evaluation, for a period of 2 more years. Previosly, Tec has actively participated in the Council's working committees and lead collaborative projects, such as the Academic Report which accompanied Mexico's Third Voluntary National Report to the UN on the implementation of the Agenda 2030, (2021), and other initiatives like the Legislative Strategy 2030 and Solutions 2030 for Sustainable Local Development.

Tec de Monterrey has provisional observer status for the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties. Since 2021, Tec de Monterrey has had a delegation going to Climate COP.
 
In 2022, a delegation of 7 people, including leadership team, faculty and a student, attended COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh to push for greater global climate action ambition and to enhance university leadership for climate action. Tec participated in side event with universities' networks and attended the Alliances for Climate Action Strategic Session.
 
In 2023, Tec de Monterrey participated in the first Higher Education Pavilion at COP28.

  • Tec de Monterrey has provisional observer status for the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties. Since 2021, Tec de Monterrey has had a delegation going to Climate COP.
