The Center for the Future of Cities

The Center for the Future of Cities is a center of thought and action at Tecnológico de Monterrey focused on the planning and transformation of cities as sustainable, humane and prosperous environments


In addition, the Center links society, government, entrepreneurs and universities to raise awareness and encourage create more sustainable cities that offer a better future and promote the flourishing of its inhabitants. 


The Center Focus in 3 major work areas:

  3. Public Policy Impact








 

The Center for the Future of Cities have offices in Monterrey, Guadalajara and México City.

 

Consejo Nuevo León

Tec de Monterrey also participates actively in "Consejo Nuevo León", an advisory board composed of Private and Public Universities, NGOs, Private Sector and Public Companies working with and for the State of Nuevo León Government regarding critical areas of work or Comissions regarding the moste relevant State Issues:

SDSN Mexico


Tec de Monterrey, as co-coordinator of SDSN Mexico, participated in the multi-sector alliance led by the Executive Secretariat of the National Council of the 2030 Agenda of the Ministry of Economy, GIZ México and SDSN México. This initiative launched a national call to articulate the needs of local governments in terms of sustainable development, with leaders of replicable solutions and financing sources. The project articulated 27 alliances which worked during 2022 to implement some of the agreed projects in the identified locations.

Water Center


With more than 14 years of existence, the Water Center for Latin America and the Caribbean emerged as a strategic alliance of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, FEMSA Foundation and the Inter-American Development Bank. The Water Center has positioned itself as a unique ecosystem at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, dedicated to issues of management and sustainable use of water in the face of a challenging climate change scenario in Latin America and the Caribbean:

  • Human capital formation

  • Design of integral solutions

Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the international level:
Tec de Monterrey has provisional observer status for the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties. Since 2021, Tec de Monterrey has had a delegation going to Climate COP.

In 2022, a delegation of 7 people, including leadership team, faculty and a student, attended COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh to push for greater global climate action ambition and to enhance university leadership for climate action. Tec participated in side event with universities' networks and attended the Alliances for Climate Action Strategic Session.
