Sustainability Task Force

The Campus Chihuahua Sustainability Task force was created to identify and tackle the Campus main sustainability challenges by developing innovative solutions and to guarantee the Institutions' 2040 carbon neutrality goals. Furthermore, the Task Force represent a major strategic ally for the National Sustainability Team "Ruta Azul", by providing synergy with main local figures (NGOs, private and public institutions) and enrich national initiatives providing regional experience and geographical context. One of the main strengths of this initiative is their members, each representing a major key role in Campus such as Academic and Research, Operations, Administration and Finance Staff, Student Groups and Local Community. This multi-disciplinary group will be leading their Campus main sustainability Aspiration, towards the Institution's 2025 Sustainability and Climate Change Plan. 

Main activies developed by the Task Force

Campus Chihuhua taskforce activities center around promoting sustainability practices and engaging employees in green initiatives.

  1. Sustainability Workshops and Training: Conducting workshops and training sessions to educate operations staff about environmental management system practices in the workplace. The workshos cover topics related to energy efficiency, waste management, sustainable purchasing, and water circularity.

  3. Employee Engagement Programs: Engaging employees in sustainability efforts through volunteer programs, community service activities, or partnerships with local environmental organizations.   4. Sustainability Reporting and Metrics: Collecting data and tracking progress on STARS sustainability credits for Campus Chihuahua in collaboration with the Central Sustainability and Climate Change Office.

Tec de Monterrey has a robust Volunteer program. We provide the organizational structure to bridge the need for volunteers from initiatives working to answer to social and environmental challenges and people from our institution that want to help with that task.  In 2023, our catalog consisted of more than 40 volunteer opportunities with partners from organizations (governmental and non-governmental) that work in alignment with the SDGs, mainly relating to: quality education, zero hunger, reduced inequalities, health and wellbeing and environmental protection and climate action. ​Indicator: total number of volunteers 2,988 (administrative and academic staff)

Using our internal Success Factors portal, Tec de Monterrey created the mandatory course: Sustainability: Basic Concepts for the climate emergency". This course provide staff the information from basic concepts of sustainability to important facts towards the climate change emergency. The main porpouse of this course is to reach a wider-broad audience, who may not be aware of the sustainability challenges and how they will affect they every day rutine.
