15.1. Air travel reduction and mitigation
Narrative and/or website URL providing an overview of the institution’s incentives designed to encourage employees to reduce their air travel:
Staff are free to choose their mode of transports. Should they wish to travel by land or sea, they will be refunded accordingly.
When staff are planning field trips they are free to build their travel plan and request the necessary funding.
There is no travel funds. TU Dublin always pay/refund the exact amount for travels.
TU Dublin international travels (by air or sea) are organised via our travel agent (ClubTravel) or staff may cover the cost forward and request a refund through their project code. Typically, when dealing with the travel agent, staff and students still have to direct the desired flight. Staff and students are encouraged to use low emission modes of transport (typically reported by search engines such as Google Flight or the flight company). The funding is typically covered by a project code or a function budget (e.g. school, faculty, research office, etc.). Students are financially supported for compulsory trips via the Compulsory Travel Form (Ref 1). The sustainability "Transport & Mobility" programme (Ref 2) is preparing staff and student for changes on how we travel, how often, and how far.Has the institution adopted restrictive measures designed to reduce the GHG emissions associated with its directly financed air travel?:
