IL-12: Green Laboratory Program

My Green Lab accreditation is being sought across a variety of TU Dublin lab spaces. The MyGreen Lab accreditation applies to wet labs (e.g. chemical, biological, pharma and clinical labs), storage rooms and dry labs (e.g. analytical rooms) - computer laboratories are excluded.Currently 3 out of 5 TU DUblin faculties are potentially aplicable under My Green Lab. These are the Faculty of Engineering and Bult Environment (5 schools), the Faculty of Art and Humanities (only the School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology), and Faculty of Sciences & Health (4 schools).TU Dublin already got awarded 10 certifications. These certifications span various levels, from Silver to Green, and encompass 27 undergraduate lab spaces across the four Schools of the Faculty of Sciences & Health. Among those 27 lab spaces, 8 out of 8 labs in Tallagh have been certified. In Blanchardstown campus there is currently no labs under the scope of My Green Lab but we will likely include all digital and data labs in the future. In TU Dublin research hubs that are relevant to MyGreen Labs, those are "Health, Engineering and Material Science" (previously called CASH), "Sustainability & Health" (previously called ESHI) , and "Physical to Life Science" (previously called FOCAS). Out of thse 3 hubs, the last 2 already that are within City Campus got MyGreen Lab certifications. In City Campus the other most relevant buildings are the Central Quad (CQ) in Grangegorman, Bolton St, and Augier Street. To read the associated news please see (Ref 1).

 

In conclusion, 10 schools and 3 research hubs are applicable to My Green Lab. We have fully certified 4 schools and 2 research hubs. The combination gives us an appximate of 6 out of 13 spaces being certified = 46%
