A brief description of the plan:
Taylor’s Campus Master Plan and similar Campus Design Guidelines document emphasize the important role of bicycles on campus and sets forth a plan to make the campus more bicycle friendly. Bicycles are included in the plan primarily through the proposed shift of the “loop” road which is currently the main vehicle and pedestrian thoroughfare around campus. That loop will be pushed outward to the perimeter of the campus so that there will be very limited vehicle access to most buildings. This encourages walking and cycling for the purposes of safety and resource efficiency. One of the purposes of these changes us to make the campus “student-focused, not vehicle-oriented.” Improving the location and design of bicycle racks is also as substantial inclusion in the plan.
