Tarleton has held voluntary recycle contests for student organizations, and most recently, a recycle contest between residence halls. The most recent contest was held in the fall of 2016.

The first recycle contest was held in 2011 and yielded 137 pounds of recyclable materials. The most recent recycle contest yielded over 2,000 pounds of recyclables with double the participation of the first contest in 2011.
