The image of the Staff Equity and Diversity policy is included in the attachment. Every year, each staff member completes 3 levels of orientation including:
1. TQ-wide orientation - includes updates and overview of all new initiatives, policy changes, and available training. This training is provided online and is compulsory for all staff. When staff complete the training including policy on staff equity and diversity, then a Certificate of Completion is issued. Each staff member has their own login which lists the completed training.
2. TAFE Queensland Gold Coast region orientation - this overview is specific to the region and covers more detailed information and targeted training. All staff complete an annual refresher of their orientation training. The training completed by all TQGC staff uses the broader TQ policies and procedures and how they apply to teams and individuals at the 6 different campuses.
3. Robina Campus orientation - with the Campus's focus on embedding sustainability into everything we do, this orientation includes campus features, recycling programs, how to get involved with events and partnerships, and our live training centres. All staff at Robina Campus completed the Introduction to Sustainability online module which introduces the concept of sustainability and why it is vital for the planet. The module outcomes for the individual are to define sustainability and understand some of the broader drivers for the future sustainability of our world. The Robina Campus educators completed all the modules of Embedding Sustainability into Education prior to completing their 9-month Professional Learning Program to apply embedding and mapping practices for all units. One of the 6 SDGs for Robina is SDG 4 Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Additional training using online webinars and/or face-to-face workshops is scheduled if legislative change requires an immediate update for staff. Signage around campus assists staff in keeping procedural requirements at the forefront. Robina Campus uses a 'pride' lighting sequence in its foyer along with other signage and lunchbox sessions promoting equity and diversity.
The image of the Student Equity and Diversity policy is included in the attachment. Every new student attending Robina Campus also completes different levels of orientation including:
1. Student induction which is TAFE Queensland-wide and covers their role as a student
2. Student orientation at the campus which covers all items in the student handbook including support services
3. Course orientation is covered by their educator and includes the course requirements, the support available, and retention strategies.
If a legislative change requires an immediate update for students, a face-to-face briefing will be scheduled. This session will be recorded and placed on the student CONNECT site. Social media will be used, along with campus signage, to inform students of the change.
