Syracuse University is located in Syracuse, NY where there have been confirmed sightings of the Northern Long-eared bat which are endangered in NYS. There are protective measures the university must take in order to comply with the DEC.

If a project occurs in an occupied habitat, the university can contact the DEC Office of Environmental Permits for project specific guidance. The University typically hires an environmental consultant to assess the specified area and reviews their findings. The University's legal team is also made aware of the findings.
