A brief description of the campaign:
'Cuse Collections is an end-of-semester donation event organized by Syracuse University. It aims to support local communities in the City of Syracuse by collecting gently used clothing, bedding, non-perishable food, home goods, school supplies, and small appliances from students who may not be taking these items home at the end of the semester. The collection occurs at the end of both the fall and spring semesters. The collected items benefit various local charities within the City of Syracuse and Syracuse University. The event is sponsored by several university departments, including Sustainability Management, the Mary Ann Shaw Center, Facilities Services, the Office of Student Living/South Campus, and Off-Campus and Commuter Services.
This event is also held to promote the amount of items the students can keep out of the waste stream, the added benefit that the items are going to local charities is a bonus.

At our Food Pantry Bingo event, each student receives a bingo card and eco-pellets to cover their spaces. These eco-pellets, a unique and sustainable feature of our event, are repurposed on our sister campus to help power their HVAC systems, emphasizing our commitment to sustainability.
Throughout the event, we take the opportunity to educate students on sustainability initiatives across our campus and others. It’s a fun way to raise awareness while engaging in a lively game. We also promote information around food insecurity on campuses.
When a student gets a BINGO, they can choose between a regular or vegetarian grocery bag, ensuring that dietary preferences are respected. If they win a second time, they’re given a choice between fresh fruit or candy bars, adding an extra layer of excitement and reward to the game.
Food Pantry Bingo is not just about fun and prizes; it's also about promoting sustainability and supporting our student community. We’re proud to integrate these values into our event and make a positive impact on our campus.
Optional Fields
We also host events in our vegetable garden and pollinator garden area, some with students, faculty and staff.
Adopt A Month Food Drives - Adopt-A-Montyh event is hosted by various departments across campus to support the two food pantries on campus. The participating departments organize food drives for one month, encouraging their employees to donate a variety of non-perishable food items for the food pantry on South Campus.
