Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Green Advisors / Sustainability Advocates

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

Swarthmore's Office of Sustainability innovatively matches student and staff Eco-Reps in a 1:1 relationship. Among other roles, the student Green Advisors are tasked with supporting zero waste and energy reduction projects in their staff Sustainability Advocate's department. Sustainability Advocates are volunteers; Green Advisors are paid student interns who also host activities in the residence halls, manage the campus-wide compost sytems, and more. Green Advisors also assist in dramatically and meticulously reducing the contamination rates of our upscaled composting operations, which has developed exponentially in the past three years. Green Advisors go on weekly waste sorting shifts in order to maintain our relationship with our commercial composter and divert a notable amount of incinerator waste.
