A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
SU is a largely residential campus with 88.6% of students living on campus. As such, the majority of our students walk or bike to class because our campus is not that large and there are no parking lots adjacent to most of the academic buildings. We removed 10% to reflect the tendency of a few of our on-campus students who may drive but the small size of campus, lack of convenient parking for academic buildings, and the residential nature of campus means most students use sustainable modes of transportation. The on-campus percentage was taken from the 2019 Fact Book.
