Performance year Baseline year
Gross Scope 1 GHG emissions from stationary combustion 3,827 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 6,658 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Gross Scope 1 GHG emissions from other sources 38 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 36 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions from imported electricity 1,105 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 6,463 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions from imported thermal energy 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Total 4,970 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 13,157 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net GHG emissions 4,970 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 13,157 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Start and end dates of the performance year and baseline year (or three-year periods):
Performance year Baseline year
Start date July 1, 2018 July 1, 2012
End date June 30, 2019 June 30, 2013

A brief description of when and why the GHG emissions baseline was adopted:

The campus steam plant switched over from coal to natural gas in 2014 so FY 2013 was chosen as the baseline. Purchased electricity in FY 2019 was 100% wind sourced. Over 3,000,000 kWh of electricity was generated via on-site solar in FY 2019 but since the RECs were not retained, these are not included as renewable energy.

Figures needed to determine “Weighted Campus Users”:
Performance year Baseline year
Number of students resident on-site 2,052 1,782
Number of employees resident on-site 11 16
Number of other individuals resident on-site 0 0
Total full-time equivalent student enrollment 2,241.70 2,168
Full-time equivalent of employees 499.75 439
Full-time equivalent of students enrolled exclusively in distance education 0 0
Weighted Campus Users 2,571.84 2,404.75

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user 1.93 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 5.47 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Percentage reduction in adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user from baseline:
64.68

Gross floor area of building space, performance year:
1,447,754 Gross square feet

Floor area of energy intensive building space, performance year:
Floor area
Laboratory space 33,655 Square feet
Healthcare space 0 Square feet
Other energy intensive space 44,477 Square feet

EUI-adjusted floor area, performance year:
1,559,541 Gross square feet

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per unit of EUI-adjusted floor area, performance year:
0.00 MtCO2e per square foot

A brief description of the institution’s GHG emissions reduction initiatives:

Steam plant switched from coal to natural gas in 2014; 100% wind-sourced grid electricity for FY 2019; solar array generated >3,000,000 kWh of electricity used on campus but RECs not retained.
