EcoChallenge
A brief description of the campaign:
During October 2018 and October 2019, SU held a three week campus wide EcoChallenge competition. Teams were formed across SU that were comprised of courses, residence halls, athletic teams, academic departments and administrative offices, and faculty and staff interest groups. The winning team each year won a lunch with our president.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
For the 2019 EcoChallenge, 155 students, faculty, and staff participated and and spent 6,500 hours outdoors, saved 4,537 gallons of water, saved 3,561 pounds of CO2, consumed 739 meatless or vegan meals, 644 plastic water bottles were not sent to a landfill, 95 locally sourced meals, 42 miles traveled by foot, 31 zero waste meals, 15 trees planted, and 69 pounds of paper saved, among many other positive impacts.
