The Friends of the Buffalo State Maud Gordon Holmes Arboretum was instituted in fall of 2016 to help bring our once beautiful campus landscape back to its former glory. The Friends of the Maud Gordon Holmes Arboretum are sustained by donations and volunteers to help in any way that supports the mission of the Arboretum. The Friends of the Maud Gordon Holmes Arboretum seek to restore much of what was lost in the October storm of 2006, emerald ash borer infestation and construction loss and have sponsored several tree planting days or “Big Digs” using donated funds and volunteers to plant trees across campus. They have also sponsored making our tree database publicly available on the arboretum website and other educational opportunities. Come be part of this great organization. Since 2019, Buffalo State University has had 6 BIG DIG events, (April 2019, November 2019, November 2021, November 2022, November 2023, October 2024), resulting totalling over 200 new trees installed.
