Description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory:

During Spring 2023, all courses in the catalog underwent a preliminary review by a committee for sustainability content. The decision was made to use the 17 UN SDGs as a lens through which to define "sustainability."  With the backing of the Provost, the preliminary review results were then sent to each department for review, comment, and corrections. Before any course could receive a sustainability designation, a department had to justify it with a reference to a UN SDG challenge or topic. This survey process was complete by Summer 2023.

A total of 2826 courses were reviewed. Special projects, internships, student teaching, thesis, research methods and any special topic/project course without a specific topic listed were excluded from the survey.

This comprehensive review and survey process allowed us to define "sustainability" content on campus and helped to begin educating departments, administration and faculty about the 17 UN SDGs.
