Social Justice at Buffalo State

At Buffalo State, we believe that social justice is the undeniably human right to dignity, equity, and full participation in society. Some programs that are supported by Buffalo State University:

Ann Frank Project:

AFP celebrates positive innovations in the face of adversity.  The fesival provides multidisciplinary workshops and artworks that teach the tools and vocabulary to tell stories in challenging times to inspire hope and build strong, safe communities.

Beyond Boundries:

Film series organized around categories of diversity including, but not limited to, race, gender, class, sexual orientation, and abilities, with an emphasis on intersectionality.

Community Circles

A restorative justice framework that provides space for discussion, action, planning, and addressing harm at the group and individual levels.  The circles are facilitated by a wide variety of faculty and staff members on campus and from the greater Buffalo community.

 

Butler Library Information on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Initiative

Diversity, equity, inclusion and accessability are core values at E.H. Butler Library, as they are core values to librarianship.  Butler Library adopts the policy objectives of the American Library Association (ALA) pertaining to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessability.  We strive to create accessable ans equitible physical and digital learning environments.  We regularly assess our spaces and resources to ensure that no barriers exist to library and information services.

The Civic and Community Engagement Office is a one stop destination to get involved with the community.  With curricular and co-curricular activities, we connect students, faculty, and staff with schools, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and other community partners to learn, grow, and create change around key social justice and community priorities
