1.1 Percentage of academic departments with sustainability course offerings
Number of academic departments with at least one sustainability course offering:
Annotated list or inventory of the institution’s sustainability course offerings by department:
Description of the process used to identify the institution’s sustainability course offerings by department:
During Spring 2023, all courses in the catalog underwent a preliminary review by a committee for sustainability content. The decision was made to use the 17 UN SDGs as a lens through which to define "sustainability." With the backing of the Provost, the preliminary review results were then sent to each department for review, comment, and corrections. Before any course could receive a sustainability designation, a department had to justify it with a reference to a UN SDG challenge or topic. This survey process was complete by Summer 2023.
There were a small number of changes to the course offerings in the 2023-24 college catalog. These were identified and separately reviewed to give an updated list of sustainability courses. The overall list was then updated to include only courses offered during the 3-year time period of the report, Fall 2021-Spring 2024.
This comprehensive review process allowed us to define "sustainability" content on campus and helped to begin educating departments, administration and faculty about the 17 UN SDGs.

Optional documentation
Course description data was obtained from the 2023-2024 college catalog. Actual course offerings and enrollments over the past 3 years (Fall 2021-Spring 2024) were provided by the Registrar's office.
Each unique course was counted as a single course regardless of the number of offerings or sections during the 3 years covered by this review.
All Departments and interdisciplinary units that offer distinct degrees were considered as separate units. Some miscellaneous courses were grouped together under "Academic Affairs."
