A brief description of the institution’s wellness and/or employee assistance program(s):
The institution provides both physiological, nutritional, mechanical, emotional, cognitive, and social services to student, staff and faculty The Wellness and Chronic Illness Program. The program offers integrative primary care and consultative visits.
The Healthier U program is Stony Brook University's wellness initiative for employees. It is designed to address your total well-being — mind, body and spirit.
The Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) offers free and confidential services available to currently enrolled students. Included are crisis intervention, brief counseling for individuals, couples, and groups; consultation to students, faculty, staff, friends, and parents; assistance with referrals to community resources.
The Campus Recreation Center is dedicated to enhancing the quality of campus life for students, faculty, and staff with abundant programs, including intramural sports, wellness programs, sport clubs, informal open recreation, special events, and equipment rental.
The school also has the Stony Brook University Employee Assistance Program. It is a voluntary, confidential assessment and referral service at no cost to faculty and staff offering assistance in resolving personal, family and work issues. It also provides on-site critical incident response services to help an event such as a serious injury, illness or death of an employee or family member.
